Alex Clark

Alex Clark was born in June 1974 in the village of Shotley Bridge, County Durham. She didn't go to art school, but instead studyied biology at university in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, supplementing her grant money by painting in the evenings and then selling her work at craft fairs and local art exhibitions at weekends. She has developed a deep affinity for the rolling countryside of her home that provides a backdrop to much of her work today. She first began printing her own greetings cards in a very small way in 1998 then grew her range slowly for a few years before she made the decision to expand it much more rapidly in 2005. Her business, Alex Clark Art, is located in an old sawmill by the banks of the Derwent in Ebchester. It’s a natural haven for all sort of wildlife with weasels, otters and just about every garden bird you can imagine. It is an environment that inspires charming subjects for greetings cards, not only for birthdays but every other occasion too.
