The children and I walked down to the churchyard this weekend to assess the conker situation under the big Horse Chestnut tree. Quite a few on the floor after a windy day on friday, but when we opened them, disappointment – not quite ready yet. Late summer usually brings a holiday in Scotland for us, and this year we had a fantastic week at Fasnacloich, near Appin. There really is nothing to beat the West Coast in terms of scenery, wildlife and amazing seafood. Emma Ball painted this watercolour greetings card at Plockton, a little further north than Appin.
